VSphere Client very slow on windows 7

I know it actually never worked at all for a while on 7 (64bit) without hacking around a bit , but with 4.0u1 update the client does install and work fine.

But I now find that its pretty slow to refresh its screens and flashes quite a lot when compared to it running on XP.

Why is this? , I am hoping VMware have a new native client soon as my eyes cant take much more!

I get the same on WIndows 7 32bit. The VSphere client is very sluggish compared to running XP.

However, turning off Desktop composition for the app makes it MUCH faster. See here how:

    Very useful tip
    Thanks,
    I’ll repeat it here ;-)

    1. Navigate to the executable or shortcut for the program you wish to disable desktop composition using Explorer.

    2. Right click on it and select Properties.

    3. Select the Compatibility tab and check Disable desktop composition, then click on OK.

Excellent tip! I was thinking maybe it was loading slowly due to running ESXi on an old and slow USB flash drive.

    This worked GREAT!!!!! Thanks!

Disabling desktop composition does not help at all, and should not be done at all with an application released in 2010. vmware failed with this client even with 4.1 this issue exists.

Actually, it is a lot faster but the Aero effects go away if the vSphere client is running and that is not really what I hoped.

If someone has another idea to solve the issue…
